He noticed a new icon on his desktop called something like BBARemote (which seemed to have something to do with the video on the laptop, which I ended up removing). Tried to update the driver, but didn't help. I managed to get into Safe Mode with Networking, and can get into Windows fine there. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. I was able to get a quick pic of the BSOD, and it states the following: After staying on this screen for about 15 seconds, we'll then get a quick BSOD screen, and then a reboot of the computer to the screen where you can choose to start windows normally, in safe mode, or safe mode with Networking. Upon booting up, we get to the Windows XP screen, and then when going into windows, instead of getting the desktop, we're getting a screen full of random colored lines, almost like the refresh rate or resolution sized on the monitor is way off. Normally, he'll boot up his laptop every morning, check his email (online via ), and surf the net. Claims he didn't do anything and didn't change any settings. I've been working on my uncle's HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop running Windows XP that's been having a BSOD error when trying to boot up.
